Recycling Program for Clothing, Shoes and Other Household Textiles

The County has received a termination letter from U'SAgain Textile Company, and all textile recycling bins will be removed from Calaveras County by June 30, 2016.  We want to thank everyone who has donated under this program, which has diverted almost 300 tons from our Rock Creek Landfill in the two years we had this program.  The County is actively searching for another textile recycler to work with.  In the meantime, it is appreciated if residents can consider donating any textiles to the local thrift stores and continue diverting these materials from our landfill. Posted 5/17/16

Calaveras County has partnered with U'SAgain Textile Recycling Company to recycle all clothing, shoes and other household textiles. The textiles can be of any condition whether soiled, stained or torn. All materials must be clean and dry; and dropped off in tied plastic bags. A sturdy plastic bag protects the clothes from dirt and simplifies handling.

Please note that this program was implemented in order to enhance the County’s diversion goals. It is not intended to replace your local thrift store donations, but to provide an additional avenue for reuse, recycling and diverting these materials from our landfill.

All clothing is accepted, regardless of their condition, including, but is not limited to:

Pants, shirts, blouses, skirts, dresses
Jackets, coats, shorts, t-shirts
Underwear, socks, bras and slips
Hats, mittens, gloves, scarves
Shoes, sneakers, flip-flops
Bedding, sheets, pillows, blankets, table linens
Belts, purses, robes, slippers
Shower curtains, drapes, towels, washcloths
Stuffed animals, yarn and cut cloth
 (PR 3-19-14)
U'SAgain has started to restructure its service routes to reduce their costs and their environmental footprint.  Please see the Press Release for Program Changes to the County's Textile Recycling Program (PR11-17-2015)
